Are you running an online business or making money online? The worst question I see at first in most newcomers to these two items is How to find a niche market?
I will show you 5 ways to find niches. But when you finish reading it, you will feel how easy it is that I haven’t implemented it before. In fact, there are many different ways to find a niche, but I will list the 5 ways that I use most often, and their effectiveness is also the highest.
How to find a niche market: Why is ‘niche’ important?
Quite a few of you who are new to making websites to make money, online business head into topics such as finance, travel, beauty, home appliances, vehicles, food, etc.
For a while, I found myself extremely small, unable to surpass the current websites. Or feel like there’s too much to do and get overwhelmed, not knowing what to do next.
The reason is obvious. These friends are crashing into the large market, where tons of ‘big guys’ with excess money and professional startups are trying to squeeze in.
It’s not a ‘niche’ at all. Niche markets are topics that have to be more specific.
If ‘market’ is said to be national roads, then niches are small alleys. In the past, when the highway was wide and few people walked, everyone could go fast and far.
However, after some time, the more people rush to this road, the number exponential, including cars and trucks of all kinds. The era of traffic jams has come.
Instead of rushing in, many people take the alley. Although it is smaller, in general, it is easier to go & reach the destination faster.
In marketing to make money or business you need a profitable niche. By choosing a niche, you essentially get these six strengths:
- Reduce competition, and avoid heavyweights.
- The budget to deploy is lower than to head into the large market.
- More impressive in the eyes of customers because it is more specific.
- Good application if you want to personalize the content.
- Easier to be professional since you have time to dig into that niche.
- Understanding customers better.
Beginners are often very weak in knowledge, resources, finance, etc. Therefore, the niche market is a very suitable step.
Importance of keyword research for how to find a niche market
Before going into the guide, you find a niche. You must know keyword research.
The main purpose is to have data & understanding:
- Is the niche you’re looking for with potential growing or going backward?
- Do the products in your niche have a lot of interest?
You will get data assurance if you incorporate the keyword research element. A delicious niche never stops with your imagination but must have actual numbers.

How to find a niche market: 5 Methods
Okay, now I will start going into detailed instructions for you on a series of ways to find niches that are guaranteed to be effective.
⏩ Method 1 for How to find a niche market: Search on the website TMDT.
Amazon, Lazada, Aliexpress, Shopee, Tiki, and Adayroi are the top e-commerce websites that almost everyone has heard of.
Behind them are people with very high qualifications. So from the layout arrangement for the website, they will make way for users to find the category most easily.
Such as:
In this image, you will see the following:
- Market (Major Market): Household Appliances
- Sub-Market: Furniture
- Niche (Niche): Kitchen/dining furniture
No need to search. Everyone knows that kitchen furniture is a potential niche market (Because everyone needs it), and there are many products in this market.
However, as I mentioned, don’t stop at shaping your head. Use Google’s available data.
I do simple research on “kitchen cabinet” products that have more than 100k queries per month:
So if you define a business, or build a website to make money on this market, never choose the topic of “household goods” or “furniture,” but what you have to choose should be:
- Furniture for the kitchen
- Children’s room furniture
- Office furniture
- bedroom furniture
- Bathroom furniture.
- ….
When you have made money with a certain niche and have enough capital and resources to scale up, you will develop into similar niches in the same market.
For example, if you start with the niche “office furniture,” and 6 months later, you have a very good income with this niche, then you can develop “bedroom furniture,” for example.
People have gone into building a “super-niche” market in the international market. For example, in the above case, people will not choose “bedroom furniture” to deploy. Still, they will make a niche only for “beds,” “sleeping mattresses,” “nightlight,” etc.
That is, the product will always be a niche. Matters Review is one such example.
But with competition in the Vietnamese market, you still have a lot of opportunities to develop a small niche, not as deep as internationally. Except in cases where the product is in very high demand, the same can be done.
With this niche search, you can apply it to any e-commerce site.
⏩ Method 2 for How to find a niche market: Find niches based on strengths or interests.
Suppose you have a strength in any area, even quite good at it. That’s good news because you can “commercialize” your knowledge.
For example, if you have a very good knowledge of “computer hardware,” you can find niches in this field.
However, you must understand that. Computing is a very popular field, and many majors graduate each year, so you need to find more specialized niches.
You can find the “computer hardware” niche, to do. However, to be safe, you need more specific things like:
- SSD: Over 50k queries per month
- Computer headset: Over 50k queries per month
- Gaming PCs: How to Buy and Build Your Own.
- ….
Pc Gaming Builds is an example website for this case.
The main thing I want to emphasize here is: If you can be strong in the field you are doing, you can develop your business faster & more accurately than others.
You have the potential to become one of the “experts” in your niche – which will be the marketing trend of the future.
For example, at present, almost every shop has a computer shop to build a computer with.
Their staff almost entirely compiles the content of these shops. The trend will gradually change, and searchers will progressively believe in people with high knowledge in the sharing field.
And they need more in-depth experiences. If you know that area, you’ll be able to build the content your readers need rather than aggregating it from sources.
If you do not have any strengths, at this time, “hobbies” will determine the priority. Can you imagine what field you are interested in?
Later, you will not get bored if you learn about that field.
However, it is imperative in your field to have a lot of things to commercialize it.
For example, if you like to listen to music, and this topic is more about entertainment, commercialization for individuals who can make money is almost nonexistent.
For example, if you like soccer, there will be niche markets such as football fashion, soccer shoes, etc.
But always do keyword & difficulty research first. I just gave an example for you to imagine, but the market above me does not guarantee its difficulty. In my opinion, it is quite competitive.
⏩ Method 3 for How to find a niche market: Choose from the affiliate network.
Those who are making money with affiliate marketing can choose this way. (Which even business people can do)
That is, what product you will promote, then find the niche of that product & research its potential and difficulty.
Let’s say you have an account at CJ, One of the best affiliate networks. You can find running campaigns on this, for example:
Then here, “water purifier” will be a niche. In fact, this is a product for life, but this product is in great demand, so you can take the product as a niche:
>Super good search volume in some water purifier niche keywords
For another example, at Maxbounty, an affiliate marketing platform with high commissions, there are several offers of different niches to choose from.

⏩ Method 4 for How to find a niche market: Find niches from trends on Aliexpress, Amazon, EBay, etc.
Spy is always the way I want you to always do at any stage. The same goes for starting with a niche.
In this way, I recommend that you search on e-commerce sites, especially international e-commerce sites (Because sometimes you will find very cool & new products).
And the platform that I choose to Spy on is Aliexpress because most of the familiar products are in the Vietnamese market, and sometimes there are very “trending” products that can follow the trend.
To spy on Aliexpress and what products are trending, I use Thieve.co, a free tool. You can register to open an account.
Then you go to Trending.
I have researched, and the products displayed in this section are in great demand, all suitable if you have an online business or do affiliate marketing.
And sometimes there are very strange products with a certain big demand, suitable for those who want to follow trends.
Or you can switch to the Most Popular tab to find the best-selling products on Aliexpress.
From there, you can choose a niche based on the product easily.
For example, I found the following beautiful alarm clock for decoration & temperature measurement that is selling well:
